Oliveri
Overview
The town of Black Madonna and amazing bay!

Location in Sicily
Far from noisy resorts, close to rare nature jewels
Description
A charming seaside town of Oliveri stretches for a few kilometers along the Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily. The area around Oliveri is ideal for a family vacation – it is quiet all the year round though never boring, the atmosphere is relaxed and everything is within a walking distance.
Seafood is a specialty, here and the restaurants are all good. It is also the town of bicycles: almost everyone is using bicycles to move around. Such a rare thing in Sicily! Due to the Nebrodi mountains local meat and cheeses are of high quality!
Getting there
Located in Messina province, Oliveri is rather distant from both Palermo (which is 150 km to the west) and Catania (120 km to the southeast) and is relevantly close to Messina which is just 45 km away.
Arguably, due to these distances Oliveri preserved its charming and quiet nature which still attracts many Italian and European tourists all year round, and of course especially in summer!
The motorway is fast and efficient, and there is a train line that goes along all the northern coast from Palermo to Messina. AST buses run good service, especially in summer.
