Overview
Fontane Bianche is one of the coastline parts of Siracuse that is famous for its white sand beach. It is not really a town by itself and not even a village – it emerged in the 60s when Siracuse – locals started to build summer villas and villettas there. From there the area has become quite well-known for its crystal clean water of gorgeous aquamarine color and great beach – comfortable for sand lovers and families with kids.
Fontane Bianche is very lively in summer, however all the life is mainly centred in the hotels and serviced beaches (lidos) which are not many. Fontane Bianche stretches along 4 km of the coastline to the south of Siracuse, and about 1,2 km of its shore is sandy. The rest is a rocky type of beach, which Sicilians call ‘scogliera’.
When to go?
Fontane Bianche becomes really crowded in July and August, and the best time to enjoy it is probably June and September. However, infrastructure is significantly better in high season. The resort’s life starts around Catholic Easter and slowly gets busy by June.
Going Out
In high season there are a few eating out options inside Fontane Bianche itself, though for more choice one could head to neighbouring towns. Being quite busy during the day, the town does not have much to offer for the lovers of big parties. There are no more or less famous discos and night clubs within walking distance.
