Giardini Naxos is a resort beach town in Sicily. Naxos beach is among the most famous beaches on the east coast of Sicily. Why so?
Here are 5 reasons to prefer Giardini Naxos to other destinations in Sicily:
1. Giardini Naxos is very close to Taormina
A world famous neighbour Taormina is an expensive destination. Taormina hotels are among the most expensive in Italy. Of course, it is not exactly the same, Taormina is a gorgeous and luxurious town with amazing seaviews, and at the end of the day not all Taormina hotels offer sky-rocketing prices. However, if you are not looking for extra-luxury then Giardini Naxos will offer similar solutions for a better price.
And the best is – Taormina is so close, that they are even sharing a train station!
2. Naxos beach is a sandy beach
You may not think about this, but far from all beaches in Sicily are good for sunbathing. Well, the sea is great all over Sicily but the sandy beach is quite a rare thing! It may matter especially for families, or if you are just used to the idea of beach volleyball and lazy sunbathing.
In short, if you like it sandy – Giardini Naxos is your option!
Even Taormina will not have a sandy beach – and Giardini Naxos will!

3. Decent infrastructure all year round
Giardini Naxos is well connected with Catania Fontanarossa airport, with Catania (by bus and by train). Again, it is very close to Taormina and the bus connection is efficient all year round. It is also not only a summer resort. People are living in residential parts of Giardini Naxos all year round, which means that there is no problem to find a grocery shop, a supermarket, a pharmacy, open restaurant, a menu in English etc. You will really appreciate this during ‘lower’ season (spring and autumn, and especially winter).
Most of the other destinations in Sicily – popular in summer – may be shut and poorly connected until July arrives.
4. Easy itinerary planning: No car needed!
Recanati bus station offers a variety of destination, as well as a range of tour and guide options to major places of interest.
Giardini Naxos is one of few places in Sicily where the car is not only not needed, but it is actually easier to be here without a car.
Everything is close, the buses are efficient, it is central… what else would one need? Same is valid for Taormina as well as parking is very expensive and not easy to find. But if you stay almost anywhere else in Sicily and plan to see at least something around – everyone will advise to rent a car. We would advise it as well!
5. Giardini Naxos can cater for any type of client
Someone may tell you that they could not fall asleep because of a bar next door open till early morning. And too many people everywhere and always This could be true.
Another person may tell you that they had the most quiet place ever without people around, and an empty beach, no supermarket within easy reach. This could also be true.
Giardini Naxos has it all!
It is important to find the right place in the right season.
This may look like a challenge when you book from 5 thousand miles away and are coming for the first time… But that’s what we are here for as well! We can suggest an empty beach in Giardini Naxos, as well as the most party area in Giardini Naxos. If you are planning to come to Naxos and need help make up your mind – we are eager to help!
For example, check this nice apartment in the very center and very close to the beach. Even this place will have its seasons, and depending on what type of group you are and what kind of holiday you are looking for – it may be good or not for you.
Alternatively, invest your time in a good online naxos hotels and apartments search and be attentive to the reviews of the others. Preferably the others who travel like you (couples, families etc.) and from your country. From our experience people from the same country and the same type of travelers often appreciate or dislike similar things when traveling, so this will help you!
Hope this makes it a little bit clearer?
