Refugees isn’t of a particular danger in Sicily, nor for the locals nor for the tourists. Most of the refugees live in the camps outside of the cities. You are not likely to meet them, unless driving along some roads and seeing these camps from the cars. Some immigrants/refugees, who settled in Sicily some years ago, mostly live in big cities. You may see them especially in some streets/areas in downtowns of Palermo, Catania, Agrigento, Messina. They work at the local markets or wash cars, and sometimes beg, along the roads, sometimes at the traffic light.
